Women In Sport - Hassiba Boulmerka - Algeria

She represented Algeria and is now 47 years old (when the story was written). She was part of the competition in the 1500 meter race in 1992, and she came out the victor. She won her country its first Olympics gold medal and became the first Algerian female athlete to win an Olympic title.
She was born on1968 in Constantine, Algeria. She started running seriously at the age of ten, specializing in the 800m and 1500m. She was victorious in national and regional races.
